Clinical Membership
This second category of membership is available to professionals who are interested in The Academy and who share The Academy's goals and objectives, but who do not yet fulfill all the criteria for IABMCP Diplomate Status. Requirements for Clinical Membership generally include an appropriate graduate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, present employment in the mental health profession or an appropriate related area, and satisfactory references. Clinical Members enjoy many of the same benefits as those enjoyed by IABMCP Diplomates (click here for Benefits), including the opportunity to attend many valuable educational programs at significant tuition savings. Individuals who join The Academy as Clinical Members often become IABMCP Diplomates at some later date when they have fulfilled the more extensive criteria for Diplomate Status.

Associate Membership
This is the third category of membership. Associate Membership is available to both graduate students and medical students majoring in a relevant field (i.e., psychology, social work, counseling, pre-med, etc.) who have demonstrated a record of academic excellence. Generally, a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 is required. Two satisfactory faculty references are required, as is a work sample and statement of future goals. Any honors, awards, extracurricular activities, community service, etc. are helpful. Each application is carefully considered and evaluated based upon its individual merits.
Associate Members enjoy many of the same benefits as those enjoyed by IABMCP Diplomates (click here for Benefits), including the opportunity to attend many valuable educational programs at significantly reduced tuition. Many Associate Members become Clinical Members and IABMCP Diplomates at later stages in their professional careers.
